About Marla Ahlgrimm

One of the foremost women’s health experts in the United States, Marla Ahlgrimm’s research into hormone related imbalances has revolutionized how American women and their doctors view PMS, perimenopause and menopause. A popular speaker, Ahlgrimm has been featured on radio, in magazines and newspapers. She has been interviewed on a variety of topics for nationally broadcast television programs. Ahlgrimm co-authored the books, The HRT Solution – Optimizing Your Hormone Potential and Self Help for Premenstrual Syndrome that were both published in 1999.  Additionally, Marla Ahlgrimm is a dedicated businesswoman and entrepreneur who was one of the first in the nation to develop customized, low dose natural hormone prescription options for women managing the symptoms of hormone imbalance.

In 1982, Marla Ahlgrimm co-founded Madison Pharmacy Associates in Madison, Wisconsin – the first pharmacy in America to specialize in women’s health. Madison Pharmacy Associates quickly made a name for itself as the staff’s attentiveness and ability to respond to the specific healthcare needs of their female patients began to be recognized.  Marla Ahlgrimm believed fiercely in her vision and a decade later she founded Women’s Health America to treat a broader spectrum of health concerns, including perimenopause and menopause. Ahlgrimm sold Madison Pharmacy Associates in 2011 to continue on with her mission to encourage women to make wise and informed choices regarding their health.

Over a career spanning three decades, Marla Ahlgrimm has developed unique prescription dosage forms for hormone therapy, developed medical protocols used for hormone therapy management, and developed specific hormone tests for women using saliva. Currently, Ahlgrimm continues as president of Cyclin Pharmaceuticals, specializing in proprietary products related to women’s health.

Marla Ahlgrimm, R.Ph., is a University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy graduate. She has continually been recognized with some of the nation’s top honors for women. Some of her most notable accolades include the 1999 Distinguished University of Wisconsin Alumni Award and the 1994 YWCA Women of Distinction honor. Marla is also a philanthropist and is the namesake of the Marla Ahlgrimm scholarship fund for students at the University of Wisconsin who share her interest in personalized medicine for women.
